2018 Memorial Day MURPH Challenge

Join us Memorial Day 2018! ~ Family and Friends welcome!

One of CrossFit's most famous Hero WOD's, which are named in honor of U.S. servicemen who died in action, The 'Murph' is named after Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005, and awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. (Murphy's story was also portrayed in the Mark Wahlberg film "Lone Survivor")

Murph is the ultimate test of cardio endurance, bodyweight strength, and mental toughness. Murphy often did the workout while wearing body armor- hence the 20-pound vest and its original name, "Body Armor." So if you have a weighted vest or body armor, wear it!

THE WORKOUT:
Run 1 mile
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
Then run another mile
That's Murph.

Following the WOD, we will celebrate everyone's accomplishment by enjoying some ice cold beverages. Feel free to BYOB or North Pier will be donating some cold beverages to help you celebrate the completion of The MURPH!!

Spring Celebration and Easter Egg Hunt

The weather is getting warmer!! Ready to open the garage doors and enjoy the fresh air.

We want to invite everyone and their families to join us for our annual Spring Celebration and Easter Egg Hunt.

The Brunch and games will start following the 9am WOD

Please bring a dish to contribute to the brunch and Easter baskets for the Kids so they can collect eggs.

We will have our CFT cornhole games setup for everyone to play.

 

Please look for the sign up sheet on the bulletin board to sign up for what you would like to bring.

3 Wise Men Tribute WOD and Fundraiser

More than 200 CrossFit gyms across the country raise money for the Three Wise Men Foundation, which was started in honor of Beau, Ben and Jeremy Wise – three Arkansas brothers who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Jeremy Wise, a U.S. Navy SEAL, was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan on Dec. 30, 2009. Ben Wise, a Green Beret in the U.S. Army, died in January 2012 after he was wounded in a firefight in Afghanistan. Beau Wise is still active in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In 2016 our CFT Athletes dedicated themselves to a workout- a workout that will test them mentally, emotionally and physically- in an effort to raise awareness and tackle the stigma towards veterans' mental health. They also landed us third in the nation out of over 200 CrossFit affiliates in fundraising. Lets get to #1 this year!!

“Jeremy”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
5 Hang Squat Snatch (Elite = 185/125 lbs, RX = 135/95 lbs, Scaled = 95/65 lbs)
10 Burpees Over the Barbell

Rest 2 minutes, and then…

“Ben”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
10 Power Cleans (Elite = 185/125 lbs, RX = 135/95 lbs, Scaled = 95/65 lbs)
20 Pull-Ups

Rest 2 minutes, and then…

“Beau”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
15 Box Jump-Overs (Elite & RX = 24”/20”; Scaled – 24”/20” Step-Overs Allowed)
30 Wall Ball Shots (Elite & RX = 20/14 lbs; Scaled – 14/8 lbs)

CrossFit Tides 5 Year Anniversary!!

This October CrossFit Tides Celebrates 5 years since we opened in 2012!!

Since then we have grown to be an amazing community of athletes! We want to celebrate our members and thank you all for your support over the last 5 years!

9:00am - FUN member WOD, with special prizes awarded. - Even if you are not a member come out and cheer everyone on and watch all the Tides Athletes throwdown!

11:00am - 5 minute community WOD - If you have never participated in a CrossFit class and want to see what it is all about... Now is your chance to do it for FREE!

This is a Family Fun event... Bring your kids to enjoy the bounce house and fun yard games. They are also welcome to compete in a kids heat duringing the open Community WOD.

We are planning on having Food available for purchase on site. Please feel free to bring your beverage of choice.

We will have special 5 year anniversary shirts as well as brand new CFT gear available.

Join us for the 2017 Lift Up Autism WOD that will be taking place on September 22nd. We will be doing the WOD as part of all classes scheduled on that Day. 

THE WORKOUT
"LUKE" 

5 MIN AMRAP
4 Power Cleans: 155 lbs. men/105 lbs. women
24 Double Unders
10 Pull-Ups

The "Luke" workout is challenging but accessible. We have scaling options to accommodate athletes of all abilities and experience levels.

If you're new to CrossFit or have never done these movements, there are many other ways to participate and get involved.

On Monday, August 28, 2017 All classes at CFT will be participating in HERO WOD "Wolf" dedicated to Michigan State Trooper Chad H Wolf.

There will also be a Special WOD at 1:00pm for local MSP Troopers to participate and show their support.

Trooper Chad H Wolf, End of Watch August 28, 2015.

Tpr. Chad H. Wolf died as a result of injuries
sustained while patrolling on a motorcycle in
Oakland County on Friday, August 28, 2015.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., Trooper Wolf was
on patrol with his department-issued
motorcycle driving on northbound Dixie
Highway near southbound I-75 when a
passenger vehicle towing a trailer collided
with Trooper Wolf’s motorcycle. Trooper Wolf
was dragged by the trailer on I-75 for several
miles until the driver pulled over at the Holly
Road rest area. Trooper Wolf was taken to
Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand
Blanc where he later passed away as a result
of his injuries.
Trooper Wolf joined the Michigan State Police
in 2008, graduating as a member of the 121st
Trooper Recruit School. He served at the
Jackson, Flint, and Metro posts and became a
member of the Motor Unit in September 2013.
Tpr. Chad H. Wolf was the 52nd Michigan
State Police officer to die in the line of duty.
